Jamie Brand, NSW State Manager announced the strategic appointment of Prof Alex Pitman to Director of Imaging, Northern Beach Medical Imaging at the new Northern Beaches Hospital.
Prof Alexander Pitman brings a unique blend of hospital, private practice and academic expertise to Healthcare Imaging Services. He has a track record of prior appointments and experience required to establish and lead a new Imaging Department, as we partner with Healthscope to open the new Northern Beaches Hospital in October 2018.
Alex is currently the Clinical Director of Medical Imaging at Goulburn Valley Health in Shepparton, Victoria. In his prior senior roles, Alex served as Director of Nuclear Medicine and PET at Lake Imaging and St John of God Hospital, Ballarat; Partner of Radsonic Radiology in Ballarat; Director of Medical Imaging at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne; and Director of Radiology at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne.
Alex graduated with a Bachelor or Medical Science (MBBS) from the University of Melbourne, is a dually trained Radiologist (FRANZCR), and Nuclear Medicine/PET Specialist (FAANMS). His passion for education and research has continued through Professorial level appointments at the Universities of Melbourne and Notre Dame. Alex’s service to the profession includes stints as Federal Councillor of both RANZCR and AANMS, and as Chair of various professional committees (including the RANZCR Continued Professional Development Committee between 2001 and 2013). He is an author of one textbook, several textbook chapters, and over 50 peer reviewed articles.
